Long-held plans for the transformation of Tauranga’s civic precinct and city centre are poised to progress, with key decisions about the ‘once-in-a-generation’ project expected to be made at a Tauranga City Council meeting on Monday (24 July).
Grenada Street is set for some changes to the road layout, which will make it safer and easier for the Arataki community to walk, cycle and catch a bus along this road.
Heavy vehicles have several blind spots that prevent drivers from seeing people on bikes, but few people have any idea of what a driver can and can’t see from the seat of their truck or bus.
Free on-street parking on Saturdays and after 5pm on weekdays will return to the city centre next month, in a move to support local businesses while the area’s significant transformation is underway.
Restraints, seatbelts, safety belts, child seats - whatever you call them their importance cannot be overstated, put quite simply they save lives.
