Tauranga’s future civic precinct is to be called ‘Te Manawataki o Te Papa’ – the heartbeat of Te Papa – when plans for the central city site are brought to life.
Tauranga’s central city bus interchange will be temporarily relocated to Durham Street from the end of March next year as part of the civic precinct redevelopment.
The people of Tauranga have been given a glimpse of what the city’s civic precinct could look like in the future, and today that vision moved another step closer to becoming a reality.
The Tauranga community can expect to see an exciting transformation taking place at a familiar downtown location in the coming months.
Tauranga City Council has announced a temporary location for its customer service centre and central library as it progresses plans to redevelop the civic precinct in the city centre.
