Hei aha te rangahau ki Greerton Mārawaewae?

What is the Greerton Maarawaewae study for?

Tauranga City Council is looking at the future use of the Crown-owned Tauranga Racecourse Reserve in Greerton.

The purpose of the Greerton Maarawaewae study is to identify opportunities that will support wellbeing and liveability as the city continues to grow.

This is being done in partnership with Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities as we explore how best to create quality urban development within our growing city for people and whānau to live, work and play.

The total area of reserve land is 85ha which is about the size of 100 rugby fields.

Over the next 30 years, 15,000 more people will be living on the Te Papa peninsula.

That means we need to start work now to transform the peninsula into a place where more people can live, work, play and move around by walking, cycling or catching a bus.

The future starts now – but it’s going to take time!

The options include keeping the reserve land use as it currently is – or making some changes that improve access for a wider range of uses and users.

No decisions have been made and all options are on the table.
