Arataki Neighbourhood

Welcome to the Arataki Ward. Find out what projects are happening around where you live, work and play, and learn more about your neighbourhood.

Arataki Ward

Arataki is home to over 17,000 people and includes Arataki, Te Maunga, Mangatawa, Palm Beach and Kairua. It forms part of the coastal strip and sits between the Mauao/Mount Maunganui and Pāpāmoa wards.

Baywave aquatic and leisure centre and Baypark speedway are popular facilities that attract a lot of visitors and the area is home to many childcare facilities, kindergartens and schools, retirement villages, sportsgrounds and parks. Bayfair Mall sits right on the ward’s boundary and is a key community hub along with the Arataki Community Centre.

Arataki is an important access route for commuters and the community and several projects aimed at improving access, road safety, and public transport are underway in the area.

More ways to move on Grenada Street

Plans for a separated cycle way on Grenada Street will not be proceeding at this time. This follows the withdrawal of funding for the nationwide Transport Choices programme and confirmation council is unable to take on the full construction costs itself.
