Te Tumu: Rangahau tōmua
Te Tumu was originally identified by SmartGrowth as one of seven potential areas for urban development to cater for the future growth within the western Bay of Plenty region.
In 2015 Tauranga City Council undertook a strategic planning study of the area to determine, at a high level, whether Te Tumu was appropriate for development.
This study considered resource management and planning constraints, infrastructure requirements and costs, financial viability and tangata whenua engagement. It also looked at potential population growth and employment, requirements for future reserves and community facilities, and housing.
This study resulted in the preparation of several reports, which can be accessed from the links below. The study concluded that commencement of a structure planning process for Te Tumu was appropriate.
