Beacon Wharf render

Whakahoutanga Wāpu Beacon

Beacon Wharf redevelopment

The newly upgraded Beacon Wharf is open for the community, restoring an important connection to Te Awanui Tauranga Harbour.

Situated at the northern end of the city centre waterfront on Dive Crescent, Beacon Wharf has undergone a comprehensive transformation. Featuring a new gangway, pontoon and improved landscaping with a viewing platform, along with a refurbished seawall. The new pontoon provides easier access to the inner harbour for recreational boats, kayaks, paddleboards and a great place to enjoy fishing.

Why are we doing this?

This project is part of Tauranga City Council’s wider waterfront transformation plans to help breathe life back into the area and revitalise the city centre.

As part of this, we are upgrading key city centre streetscapes and public spaces. This will help transform our city centre into an even greater place for our community and visitors to enjoy. Beacon Wharf is an iconic location in Tauranga and the recently completed upgrade provides improved facilities for our community to continue experiencing Te Awanui Tauranga Harbour.
