We are improving and extending the life of the road by reconstructing a section of pavement along Rowesdale Drive and the roundabout at Hollister Lane.
The roundabout at Hollister Lane is complete and now open to traffic. Over the Christmas break the contractors will demobilise from the site, removing traffic management controls, and will return on 7 January to complete the works.
Why are we doing it?
Doing this pavement reconstruction means we avoid future problems and prevent potholes. Every year we carry out an annual programme of pavement rehabilitation and road resurfacing to maintain our roads and ensure a safe surface. This makes getting around our city safer for everyone.
Project timing
This work resumes on January 7 after the Christmas break and is scheduled to complete in mid-February 2025.
What to expect while the works are underway
We need to use heavy machinery, so there will be noise and vibrations while work takes place.
Cement dust or splashes may also occur. Vehicles that encounter cement should be washed on the same day.
Traffic management:
For eastbound traffic heading towards Ohauiti Road, there will be a one-way closure from Honeysuckle Lane to Ohauiti Road. This closure will remain in place 24/7, until this essential work is completed. Eastbound traffic can access Ohauiti Road via Poike Road.
Bus routes will continue as normal, and emergency services and residents will always have access.
If you are travelling in the area, please allow extra travel time as delays are expected.
