We are improving and extending the life of the road by reconstructing a section of pavement along Rowesdale Drive and the roundabout at Hollister Lane.
Why are we doing it?
Doing this pavement reconstruction means we avoid future problems and prevent potholes. Every year we carry out an annual programme of pavement rehabilitation and road resurfacing to maintain our roads and ensure a safe surface. This makes getting around our city safer for everyone.
Project timing
Works began on Monday 7 October, and our crews will be on-site on weekdays between 6am and 6pm. We expect works to be completed by the end of November, weather dependent.
What to expect while the works are underway
We need to use heavy machinery, so there will be noise and vibrations while work takes place.
Cement dust or splashes may also occur. Vehicles that encounter cement should be washed on the same day.
Traffic management:
For eastbound traffic heading towards Ohauiti Road, there will be a one-way closure from Honeysuckle Lane to Ohauiti Road. This closure will remain in place 24/7, until this essential work is completed. Eastbound traffic can access Ohauiti Road via Poike Road.
Bus routes will continue as normal, and emergency services and residents will always have access.
If you are travelling in the area, please allow extra travel time as delays are expected.
